Many dyes out in the market have toxic products that are harmful for us! Why do we use it? Because many of us don’t know what we’re putting into our hair or just want an easy cheap quick fix to look fabulous! According to the American Cancer Society, some Researchers have possibly link hair dye use to certain cancer (please note other studies have not found this link). They say the ingredients used in hair dyes (including certain aromatic amines) have been shown to cause cancer in lab animals. In addition, the FDA stated, there are many people who have allergic reactions to an active ingredient p-phenylenediamine (PPD) which contain coal tar in many brown and dark hair dye.
There are companies like Henna Color Lab who use natural products in their hair dyes. This certified vegan and cruelty free company’s products are 100% natural, never tested on animals, perfumes are natural, free of chemicals and preservatives. Their amazing powdered hair dyes have NO ➡ PPD, phthalates, ammonia, or metallic salts added to them! Their awesome shampoos are 100% and conditioners 92% organic plant-based, and sulfate free .
Also, Henna Color Lab impressive natural products strengthens your hair shaft, detoxes the follicles, conditions the scalp and fights dandruff! Their products never lightens your hair like other products do. They carry a wide range of colors you can choose from! I selected their black hair bundle which came with 2 Pure Indigo and Henna hair dyes, trail unscented soap shampoo, minty liquid shampoo and conditioner bottles. What’s so cool is that you can use their shampoo soap as a body soap too! The Pure Indigo hair dye I received in the black hair bundle is a natural solo pigment to darken all colors. It is used to darken existing dark and brown hair. Furthermore, the Pure Henna hair dye which I used radically adds some slight orange-red undertones to dark hair like mine.

Ultimately, all I had to do to use this product was to simply mix the green powder (which came in a reusable ziplock bag) with hot water and I stirred it until it blended like a cake mix. I put on the gloves that came with the mix and applied it to a small portion of the bottom part of my hair. I kept it on my hair for 2 hours as instructed. I washed the dye off my hair with water.
Once the product was completely off, I applied the minty shampoo. I noticed my hair felt a little sticky and stiff after the shampoo but when I applied the minty conditioner, my hair felt normal again! I noticed the lightness on my hair once it was dried. I was impressed with the strains of hair that turned brown because my natural hair is deep black. The reason my hair didn’t come out lighter is because I immediately washed my hair after I dyed it. It is recommended to wash your hair 24-48 hours after you dye your hair. Next month I cannot wait to dye my hair the correct way so that it will come out lighter.
